The Boathouse, Canary Wharf

I had arranged with a couple of girlfriends to meet up in Canary Wharf late on a Saturday afternoon, and knowing that I didn’t have a pet sitter, was searching for a new place to meet up before going to the Winter Lights. Having been around Canary Wharf a few times and struggled to find somewhere dog friendly I began my online search.

The Boathouse appeared in my searches as a place to go however it was not apparent on their website whether it was pet friendly so I reached out on email and the lovely Louise reached back out almost immediately to assist with my enquiry. As you know, Staffies are not considered “small” dogs however on clarification with Louise, we were all booked in …… sigh of relief!

Inside The Boathouse

Getting to The Boathouse is a short 7 minute stroll from the Canary Wharf station along the waterfront, it is beautiful, even on a cold winter afternoon. As you come around the bend you see a boat with deck chairs on the roof however no signage stating what the boat is. My friend was a little confused however I reassured her we were in the right place. Walking on the ramp and across the roof to the back of the boat, a few small steps onto the back deck and through some tiny doors, you enter the most equisite little cocktail bar with plush velvet seating, soft lighting and a back drop of suave easy listening melodies.

I highly recommend the champagne cocktails infused with either Gin or Grey Goose, especially if it is a lady’s evening out.

Although I didn’t try any food, the Boathouse offers a small, well defined set of bites to eat.

The staff are professional, courteous and as mentioned before, the cocktails are exquisite.

Reservations can be made via their website and I would advise pre-booking to ensure your spot, especially if it is cold outside as Canary Wharf may have that bone chilling wind where indoors seating is a must have.
