The Crown Tavern, Farringdon
After a casual late afternoon swagger around the Winter Lights in Canary Wharf, it was a pleasure to find this little gem a short 5 minute walk from Farringdon station. Just off the main drags of Clerkenwell and Farringdon roads is a little side street, lit up with a classic old English pub and outdoor seating area. It was a delight to see in the dark, cold winter evening so I can only imagine the buzzing nature it would have mid summer on a warm sunny weekend.
I had googled the pub prior to arrival, so I knew it was dog friendly however there is a difference between allowing dogs in and truly being “dog friendly”. The Crown Tavern is one of those rare establishments which is wholly and truly pet friendly. From walking into the warm, welcoming main bar, we asked a staff member if it was ok to take our Bougie Staffy into their dining area. The answer was a warm, welcome and resounding “Yes”. And it is not only the staff who where more than accomodating, the other patrons were just as welcoming, asking to pat or say hello, which our Bougie Staffy always loves when out and about.
The Crown also claims to have the “Conspirator’s Clock” which is said to have some well know Russian leaders having met under said clock at the establishment.
If you are looking for a truly pet friendly place to chill with some unpretentious Londoners, I would definitely try out the The Crown Tavern.
